Trying to beat the heat

Here is one of the many ways we tried to keep ourselved busy inside yesterday! The high was like 104...yikes!!!

I made some "goo" for Camryn to play with. It is cornstarch and water, which appears solid until you pick it up. She had fun making a mess with it!

Lexie

We just heard back from the vet...the tumor is Stage 1, meaning all the tissue around the tumor is normal tissue! Great news...our sweet doggie will be okay!! We caught it before it spread. He did say there is a chance a new tumor can appear, so we have to keep checking her. She goes back in a week to get her staples removed!

Please get all bumps and lumps on your animals checked out....you never know what it could be!!

5 Months

I am 5 months old today!! I'm not feeling very well today. My big sister gave me a cold, but I am still a happy baby. I am working on sitting up. I want to sit up, but I keep falling over. I have learned that I can get places by rolling. I have fun rolling all over the living room. I love the animals on my playmat...they are so funny. I also love my big sister. I love grabbing her hair because it makes her scream. She is fun to watch...she is very silly. I also like my bottles. Mommy started giving me bottles of formula 2 times a day. Hmmm, what else?? I'm still not sleeping through the night. I wake up once or twice....mommy doesn't like that.

Update on Lexie

Lexie had her tumor removed today. The surgery went well, and she is home. We should find out in 2-3 days what the stage is. We are praying it is Stage 1, meaning they removed it all. I'll let you know when we hear. For now, she is sleepy on pain medicine and mad at us. Poor baby!

Our Lab Lexie

We found out yesterday that our 3 year old, yellow lab, Lexie has a tumor. We found a small bump on her a few months ago, which we thought was just a bite or something that would heal. When we noticed it had grown, we decided it was time to get it checked out. Yesterday the vet aspirated some cells with a needle to view under the microscope. He came back to tell me it is a mast cell tumor. He didn't say much other than we need to remove it and send it to a lab to have it "staged". The staging is like a humans cancer, stage 1,2,and 3. From what I have read, Mast Cell Tumors are a more common cancer in dogs. Labs are also more susceptible to them. Other than that, we won't know what we are looking at until it is removed. She goes in for surgery on Tuesday so, I'll keep you posted.

I'm Back....

Sorry to stay away so long! Things have been a little crazy around here. Let's see where I left off....
since Madison's fourth month when she wasn't gaining much. She started waking up more at night, so I was stressed that she wasn't getting enough breast milk. After a few days of not much sleep, I decided to supplement with some formula. We also started giving her cereal, which she loves! The sleeping was rough for a few weeks, but we seem to be getting back on track. I am giving her 2 bottles of formula a day and nursing 4 times. She seems to be growing. We checked her on our scale last night, and she was 13 pounds!
Miss Camryn has been quite the handful. She thinks she can do whatever she wants whether you think so or not. She is in to everything. She is keeping me busy running around the house. She is also getting a little attitude, well, I think she is just mean sometimes. She puts her hands on her little hips and makes a mean face. It makes me flash forward about 13 years....scary times ahead.
Chad was in Singapore for the longest week of my life. I have to give credit to all those single moms out there. I just don't know how you do it. My mom came up to help for a few days, which was a lifesaver. Anyways, things are going! I'll be posting more now that everything seems to have calmed down!
