Madison is 9 months

I have been horrible about blogging! I think it is just that crazy time of year!!

So, Miss Madison turned 9 months old on Nov. 25th!! I was waiting to update until her 9 month check-up, which was today!! Of course, she is just perfect!! She weighed in at 18.3 pounds and 27 inches long. She is 25-50% for both. She is such an amazing little person! It is crazy to me how different her and Camryn are. Madison is quiet and serious. She is happy and talkative at times too! She is perfectly happy playing on the floor with her toys. She still has not perfected her crawl, but manages to get where she needs to be with no problem. She looks like a caterpillar inching her way across the floor...it is too cute! She has learned to pull herself up and has started cruising a little when holding hands or furniture. She is starting to eat more table food even though she only has one little tooth!! She still loves her sleep. She takes 2 naps and sleeps from 7pm-7am. It makes me sad how fast she is growing up. My pediatrician told me I can't stop it, so "just enjoy it and have fun"...pretty good advice!! Madison and Camryn are starting to fight over toys. Before, Camryn would take something and Madison would just move on. Now, Madison puts up a fight and gets mad. She definitely has a little temper. She loves "talking" to Camryn. Madison will make a noise at Camryn, and Camryn will repeat it. They each get louder and louder with turns. Then they start giggling. They really go at it in the car. They are just so cute to watch. I hope they will always be the best of friends! I just can't put into words what Madison has brought to this family. She is such a blessing and the perfect addition to our little family! I just love being the mother of these two wonderful, beautiful little girls!!

Pictures

Here are some pictures from Camryn's surgery and our finished kitchen. Sorry it has taken so long. My camera broke, and I borrowed my moms to take pictures. It took me a while to get it back to upload the photos!

My family is a mess

We have had the craziest week around here. Where to start???
I woke up last Sat. with a little stomach bug. I have not been able to eat until today, 7 days later!!
Chad started feeling sick with the same stuff on Monday. Luckily, his only lasted a few days.
Madison started with a bad cough on Monday and is still sick.
Camryn had surgery on Tuesday.

Thank God for both of our mothers. I do not know what we would have done without them this week. Chad's mom came over Tuesday to stay with Madison during Camryn's surgery. She ended up staying until about 6:30pm helping out. Chad and I were helpless. My mom took over the next day. I managed on my own yesterday even though I was not 100%! Today, I feel much better, but my kids are still a mess. Camryn feels fine but is going crazy being trapped inside for days. Madison has an ear infection and just cries. She is up all night and wants to be held all day. Today, Madison is crying and Camryn is whining!! Today has been my hardest day with having 2 kids!! I do not know what I would do if Madison was not such an easy baby when she's not sick!!

Camryn's Sugery Update

First of all, thank you all so much for your thoughts and well wishes! It was so nice to get text messages all day that people were thinking of my little girl!

Everything went great!! Camryn did not act scared or anything when we got there. We changed her clothes and got her into a gown. We then had to hang out and watch cartoons for a little while because the doctor was running a little late. They came and gave her some goofy medicine. She was pretty loopy after that. Then, they wheeled my little baby to the operating room!! Once back there, they were going to give her a mask with the medicine, and once she was asleep they would start the iv and continue with surgery.

We were paged almost an hour later that she was out of surgery. The doctor came to tell us that it went perfectly. As soon as she cut the tendon, her thumb straightened. She has 3 little stitches in her thumb.

Waking up was the hard part. She was so disoriented and crabby. I crawled in bed with her and she would cry, fall back asleep, cry, get mad that she had so much equipment on her, fall asleep, cry....you get the picture! To me, it seemed like forever!! Eventually she was fully awake and drinking juice, which meant we could come home!! She screamed the whole way home and tried to take off her bandage! Once home, she screamed more. It was insane!! She was half asleep, and we could not comfort her. She wanted to run around the house when she could barely stand up. I left to go buy her pain medicine. I think Chad finally let her run around and shielded her with a pillow!! When I came home from the store, she was calm and watching movies. She is now medicated and sleepy!

Sorry for the book...I truly appreciate all the thoughts and prayers!

Love,
The Riley Family

Camryn has to have surgery

I noticed this weekend that Camryn could not straighten her right thumb. I thought maybe she hurt it while camping. She never said it hurt though. Monday, I took her to the pediatrician, and he referred us to a hand specialist. Monday afternoon we saw the hand specialist. She took xrays, which were normal. She told me Camryn has congenital trigger thumb. If you feel the base of her thumbs, her right thumb has a huge knot on it. Basically, the tendon is too tight for her to straighten her thumb easily and it locks. Here is more info...http://www.childrenshospital.org/az/Site1025/mainpageS1025P0.html

Her surgery is scheduled for Tuesday at Noon. The surgery itself only takes 10-15 minutes, the rest is just prep and anesthesia. They said she will probably be nauseous that night from the medicine. Other than that, we have to keep a bandage on her hand and have her take it easy for 4-5 days. They will take her sutures out in 2-3 weeks. The hardest part is going to be keeping her hand clean so it doesn't get infected!

I am not nervous about the surgery, it seems like a very simple procedure that the doctor has done a million times. I am nervous about general anesthesia. Please keep my sweet little girl in your thoughts and prayers!! The surgery is at noon so we have to keep her from eating all day....that is going to be painful!

I will update everyone after she is out!

Camryn's First Camping Trip

We took Camryn camping this weekend at Lake Ray Roberts. We went with 2 other couples and their kids. We had a great time!! The kids were so well behaved! They had so much fun throwing rocks in the water, chasing each other, flying a kite, eating hot dogs, roasting marshmallows for smores, looking at the stars, and sleeping in a tent!! Camryn did not take a nap with all the excitement, and when we put her to bed at 8, she crashed! It got very cold at night, but we all snuggled to stay warm. Camryn had her own sleeping bag with a blanket on top! The next morning we had breakfast, packed up, and headed home!!

Camryn 2006 and Madison 2008

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Halloween was so much fun this year! Camryn totally got the whole candy thing...scary! She would march right up to the door, which surprised us because she normally has a shy side. She did not want them to put the candy in her pumpkin. She wanted it in her hand so she could inspect it! We had to prompt her at the first few houses to say trick-or-treat and thank you! It was so much fun to watch her have such a great time! We went around the neighborhood and headed home. Both girls have been sick lately, so they weren't feeling that great!

Madison on the other hand, didn't quite get it. She wasn't sure she liked being in her costume. She liked it better when daddy wore her Minnie mouse ears! As soon as we put her in the stroller to go trick-or-treating, she was asleep! Maybe next year!

Visit with Uncle J and Tia Annita

My brother and sister-in-law had a layover in Dallas this weekend. I picked them up from the airport and took them to lunch. Camryn had a birthday party to go to, so it was just Madison, my mom, and me!! It was good seeing them. We haven't seen them since Madison was born!

We love you guys!! Enjoy your trip to Buenes Aires!

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday after Camryn's dance class, we headed to the pumpking patch. Nana Debs (my mom) came along with us. We also met up with some friends! It was lots of fun and always great photo opps!! Camryn got to feed the animals. She prefers to feed the small goats. She said the cows wanted to eat her!! We also went on a hayride, jumped in the bounce house, had a picnic lunch, and took some pictures!
