Tuesday Toddler Tales

Camryn was very busy playing mommy with her babydoll yesterday. She changed a million poopie diapers, gave her ice for a boo-boo, put her down for a nap, and she even gave her baby 2 baths! It was just too cute to watch her play!

At least it kept her busy! She has turned into a monster lately! She tests us on everything we do. We will tell her not to do something and she goes to do it again...looking at us with a smile! If I ask her to do something, she says no! Everything is a fight! We go to change a diaper or get dressed..."I don't want to"...we try to go somewhere, "I don't want to". If you tell her she doesn't have to, she starts crying that she wants to....make up your mind child! I told her teacher today that I have never been more happy to drop her off! Madison and I have been enjoying a quiet day at home without the monster...until 2 at least!!

Weekend

We mostly played outside all weekend enjoying the beautiful weather! Chad and I planted some flowers while Camryn played.

Storms

At 4am this morning, the weather was so bad it woke Chad and I up. The wind and lightening were freaking me out...I thought my windows were going to break. We decided we should turn on the tv to find out if we should be worried. At about that time, the tornado sirens started going off. Instead of getting in the safe room like most normal people would, Chad and I climb back in bed (half asleep) and watch the weather guy on the tv!! We just looked at each other like, "should we get in the bathroom?"! Well, we survived, and the weather calmed down. The power went out for about 7 hours. I get up in the morning and take a shower. I can't blow dry my hair or iron my clothes since the power is out! I was brushing Camryn's teeth in the dark bathroom. When she couldn't turn the light on she said, "Need to buy new lights. Daddy will fix it."...all I could do was laugh! Driving Camryn to school this morning was quite a sight...trampolines uplifted and placed nowhere near houses, street signs down, trees down. I get to school, and it is closed...no power! Camryn was so upset she cried. I promised her we could go home and make some cupcakes...her favorite! She has been asking to make cupcakes forever. I have no clue where it came from since we have never made them before! So, we made cupcakes!!

Weekend

Check out my new mom mobile that Chad bought me on Saturday! Yes, I am now officially a soccer mom! I have to admit that I wasn't very excited about getting a minivan, but I love it!!

We spent the weekend working on potty training Camryn. She has been showing all the signs that she is ready, so I thought we should give it a shot! Thursday and Friday we stayed at home all day and let Camryn run around naked. She had no accidents. She went to the potty everytime she needed to! She loved being able to get a prize after going potty. In fact, she loved it so much, all she did was potty all day! Every 5 seconds she was going potty. It was exhausting! Then, Saturday she had no interest in using the potty. I've decided there is no hurry. We will just go with her on this for now. Sunday and Monday, she has used the potty off and on. I guess this is just going to be a slow process.

Madison is 6 weeks old today! She is awake a lot more now! I even got my first smile today! I'm pretty sure it was a real grin and not a gas grin!! I went to pick her up and was talking to her when she smiled at me! I started talking in that high pitch baby talk voice about her grin, and I got another one! I haven't seen one for the rest of the day though...maybe tomorrow!

Update

We had a great Easter. We had lots of family in town for the weekend. Camryn loved hunting for Easter eggs! We had to do it over and over again all day! We had a baby shower for Madison on Saturday. Sunday, we had brunch at our house!
Madison is doing great! She had her 1 month checkup on March 27. I can't believe she is already 5 weeks old! She is 8lbs9oz and 21.5in. She usually sleeps 6 hours at night and then another 4. I can't complain about lack of sleep!! She is also awake a lot more now! She just sits and stares at everything.
Camryn has been sick. Her school called last Thursday to tell me she had a fever of 101. When I got there to pick her up, she was sitting in the teachers lap just moaning. She looked miserable. I picked her up, and she was on FIRE!! When we got to the car, she started getting sick. I took her clothes off, and put her in the car. When we got home, her temperature was 102.5. I gave her some medicine and called Chad to come home and help me! Her fever broke, and I put her down for a nap. When she woke up from her nap, her fever was 103.5. I gave her more medicine and a bath. She then got sick. I gave her another bath and took her temp...104.3. Not good! Called the after hours nurse, who told me to keep giving her a sponge bath and give more medicine in 3 hours. If her fever reached 105, I was to go to the ER. I held her and sponged her off until I could give more medicine! I was so scared. SHe just layed there and moaned...poor baby! We finally got her fever to break and put her to bed for the night. Chad and I got up every 3 hours to check on her and give her medicine. The next day we went to the doc...he said her ears and throat look good and her chest sounded clear. CHecked her for strep and flu, both negative. We decided to watch her over the weekend and see how she does. She had a low grade fever all weekend, and acted a little sick. Sunday night, her fever was back up to 103 and she started coughing. Monday, back to the doctor! Her chest sounded clear, but he was worried about pneumonia. If she has fever the next 48 hours, we have to do a chest xray. She only had fever for 24 hours. She is FINALLY acting like herself again!! For days, she just wanted to sit in my lap all day. I would hold Camryn, put her down, feed Madison, put her down, and hold Camryn again!! I was exhausted! We are finally back to our normal routine, and Camryn is back to bossing me around! I never thought I would be so happy to be sassed by a 2 year old!
Chad and I have finally started to shop for cars. We have decided to get a minivan...a Honda Oddessy. Now, we are just trying to find a gently used one! I'm not very excited about being a minivan mom, but it is the most practical for our family!!
